CBA’s CROSS:SCAN (Christian Retail Official Sales Statistics) gives participating retailers free weekly insights into products customers are asking for to increase sales and profitability.

Developed at the request of retailers, it gives them control over where sales data goes and who sees it. Christian retailers send POS data to be reported anonymously in aggregate with other Christian stores to help all Christian retailers sell and minister more.

With a broad look at total-industry, aggregated POS sales data for books, Bibles, music, videos, software, and children’s products, CROSS:SCAN provides the industry’s largest data picture for data accuracy and improved buying. Discover top-sellers you don’t want to miss, see trending patterns, and quickly view a product’s popularity strength to optimize purchasing, reduce returns, and increase sell-through.

In 2005, CBA member retail leaders worked with CBA to create CROSS:SCAN. Our goal was clear: to create a safe, retail-friendly, and retail-driven data-collection source that would be used EXCLUSIVELY to help Christian-retail stores grow.

CROSS:SCAN features, include:

  • Expanded four-week sales trends glance: With two additional reporting weeks, you see better trending patterns and whether product sales are moving up or down to make timely purchasing decisions and maximize sales. Products showing consistent movement up or down during the reporting period are indicated with directional arrows.
  • CROSS:SCAN Velocity Index: A gauge of product popularity and demand strength, this weighted calculation shows how fast a product is moving and how intense consumer demand is to make your decision-making easier.
  • Percentage of stores reporting: Quickly determine if reported sales are a blow-out at a few stores or something consumers are buying broadly and that you should stock.
  • Frontlist flags: In addition to actual units sold by SKU, bibliographic data, category coding, and suggested retail price, frontlist flags indicate new-release products to help retailers immediately decide whether to sell more of fast-moving products or order fewer slow-moving products.
  • Seven reports: CROSS:SCAN provides several separate category reports: books, Bibles, music, videos, software, and children’s, plus a combined report of all product categories so you can focus on maximizing key department sales.
