David Morris, PhD, has been named VP and publisher of Zondervan non-fiction trade books. Morris comes to Zondervan after leaving his position of VP and editorial director for Guideposts Books.

Most recently, Morris oversaw Guideposts’ acquisitions for the Christian trade as well as direct-to-consumer distribution through original development and licensing. During his 17-year tenure, Morris held various editorial positions, interacting with marketing, design, sales and finance. Before Guideposts, Morris worked with Chatham House Publishers in New Jersey.

Morris holds a PhD in Religion and Society from Drew University, which will bring a unique perspective to his publisher role. His knowledge of Christianity and the Church will offer a wider understanding of the marketplace and the affect society has on consumer appeal.

Morris will join the Zondervan team on Aug. 19, relocating his family to Grand Rapids, MI. in the coming months. He will replace Tracy Danz, who is transitioning his concentration to backlist development for Zondervan non-fiction trade titles.
