Jerry Bridges, NavPress author and 60-year member of The Navigators ministry, died on March 6 at the age of 86. Throughout the 1960s and ’70s, Bridges worked to establish the administrative practices of The Navigators and eventually began writing and speaking. His book The Pursuit of Holiness went on to sell more than a million copies. He also authored nearly 20 books with combined sales of over 2.5 million books, including Trusting God, Respectable Sins, and The Practice of Godliness. His final book, The Blessing of Humility, will release in June 2016.
Bestselling author and speaker Gary Smalley also died on March 6; he was 75. Founder and president of the Smalley Relationship Center, he authored more than 60 titles, including the Gold Medallion-winning Two Sides of Love (Focus on the Family), The Blessings (Thomas Nelson), and The Treasure Tree (Word). He also taped numerous videos and led conferences in churches nationwide. An expert on family and relationships, Smalley often made appearances on national programs, including Fox & Friends and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
