Worthy Publishing announced it has signed New York Times best-selling novelist Ted Dekker to release the trade editions of his self-published young adult series.

Heralded as a “master of suspense” by Library Journal, Dekker’s first novel with Worthy, Eyes Wide Open, will be published in January 2014, followed by Water Walker and Hacker in the spring. This new series of thrillers target the enormous category that includes the Harry Potter series and The Hunger Games.

Dekker independently published the digital edition of Eyes Wide Open during Christmas 2012 as an episodic novel released in four cliffhanger e-book installments. The first installment, Identity, was released for free and audience response was overwhelming, garnering over 530,000 downloads, rocketing the title to the top of the Amazon, iTunes, and Barnes and Noble bestseller charts. The series has since sold an additional 107,000 ebooks. The publication of trade editions aims to expand the series well beyond the reach of digital-only readers.

“Worthy is thrilled to be publishing Ted Dekker’s startling new fiction series. The first book is a raw adrenaline rush from first page to last,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing. “The series will not only excite Dekker fans, but all readers of mystery and suspense.”

Ted Dekker was born to missionaries who lived among headhunter tribes in Indonesia. Not surprisingly, Dekker has a bent for stories with bizarre twists and unforgettable characters. His unique upbringing allows him to rely on his own remarkable experiences to create imaginative worlds. Two of his novels, Thr3e and House, have been made into motion pictures with more movies in production.

Dekker’s novels have sold over 9 million copies—with 10 of his titles appearing on the New York Times list. Dekker’s most recently published novel, Sovereign, was written with Tosca Lee and is published by Hachette/FaithWords.
