Sisters Amy Mechler, Mindy Kinnier and Kim Amaya grew up coming to ICRS with their parents, who owned a Christian bookstore. This year, the sisters were first-time exhibitors themselves, representing the West Coast stationery company they co-founded called Rooted Ink. When the girls couldn’t find a prayer journal that fit their needs and suited their individual style, they made their own. Their colorful, handcrafted designs peaked the interest of friends, and they started making more, eventually launching their own line of not only prayer journals, but sermon notebooks, greeting cards, art prints and more. “We’ve always been crafty,” says Kinnier, “and we like the business side of things, too; so it’s the perfect combination.” Rooted Ink products are currently only available at local boutiques in their native Orange County and online at www.rootedink.com. By having a presence at UNITE 2017, they hope to connect with buyers who can showcase their fashion-forward products in stores across the country. “Our hope is to get into Christian retail stores,” says Mechler. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on our designs and our products.”
