LitRes General Director Sergey Anuriev predicts Russia’s e-book sector will more than double by 2020, with digital content accounting for up to 15 percent of the overall Russian market. Citing the convenience and mobility of digital reading among Russian consumers, Anuriev also estimates the Russian e-book market will reach 3.8 billion rubles (U.S. $90 million) in 2018 and that digital publishing and content will be key to Russia’s publishing future.

“Among the major drivers of further development of the market are advances in mobile technologies and reading services, as well as integration of electronic reading into our social networks,” says Anuriev. “At the same time, much will depend on the ongoing battle with e-book piracy in our market—that continues to be a pressing problem for us.”
