Amazon’s Oct. 25 announcement of its new service, Amazon Key, was met with skepticism and a social media backlash. The service allows delivery drivers to leave packages inside customers’ homes, which they access with a special lock, part of a kit that also includes an Amazon security camera.

Following the announcement, nearly 62,000 social media posts mentioned “Amazon Key,” according to Talkwalker, garnering a mostly negative reaction.

A blogger for The Washington Post also weighed in, calling the service “out of touch.”
