CBA’s Custom Inventory Accelerator (CIA) helps retailers better understand the balance of customer demand, inventory investment, and highest in-stock rates for local category assortments and best-selling products ? particularly backlist products. The tool helps retailers increase sales and maximize profitability by optimizing inventory and inventory management.

Backlist products are items on the market six months or longer, and are often referred to as the “long-tail” of inventory. CIA combines analysis of a store’s local inventory condition, compares it to store demand and national demand using CROSS:SCAN’s sales and inventory data collected from more than 800 Christian stores plus local store-sales data. What emerges is a multi-perspective view that pinpoints what a store should be carrying within a targeted budget for the local market. It also helps establish benchmarks for adding SKUs to categories to test sales performance and customer preferences.

In CBA tests and store coaching, CIA demonstrates most dramatic improvements for stores without a core-inventory strategy, but CIA also helps reveal gaps and sales opportunities for stores that use core-inventory programs.
