American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) has released winners of its 2013 First Impressions Contest, which recognizes unpublished writers for excellence in their first few pages of a Christian fiction manuscript in process. Nine writers received honors, among a total of 272 entries in the categories of Contemporary, Historical Romance, Historical, Romance, Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Novella, Speculative, Romantic Suspense, and Young Adult.

Cynthia Ruchti, AFCW professional relations liaison, said, “Among them are authors who are now multi-published and whose books appear consistently on CBA and ECPA best-seller lists, and those whose published works receive recognition through readers’ choice and industry-awarded honors. That speaks highly of the role of ACFW contests in helping launch author careers.”
