Former CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers and founder of Royal Publishing Sam Moore, passed away June 1, 2018.

Moore retired in 2005 after 47 years as CEO having grown the company into one of the worlds largest evangelical publishing houses.

One of Moore’s most ambitious projects was spending 7 years and 4.5 million dollars translating the King James Bible to the New King James Version. A decision Moore said he made after his 10 year old son complained that he couldn’t understand the King James Version of the Bible.

“Moore did an extraordinary job acquiring internationally recognized authors like the late Billy Graham and Zig Ziglar, Max Lucado, John Maxwell and many others,” said CBA President Curtis Riskey. Riskey said, “Our industry has been greatly impacted by the work and vision of Mr Moore.”
