Brian Bird, screenwriter and producer of such films as The Case for Christ and When Calls the Heart, spent last Saturday in an independent bookstore in Pueblo, Colorado. He signed DVDs, but more than that, he interacted with customers, discussing why faith-friendly films are important, and in some cases helping them choose one that would connect with them based on what was going on in their lives.

Heather Trost, owner of The Greatest Gift & Scripture Supply Store and CBA board member, had invited Bird to her store on a leap of faith, not knowing what to expect. He was thrilled to accept the invitation and said he enjoyed supporting the local bookstore and sharing his perspective, noting that people usually want to meet the actors, not the writers.
