A post in last week’s Christian MARKET Weekly referring to “Justice a ‘hot topic’” may have confused some readers about whether a Publishers Weekly author made a conclusion or whether an InterVarsity Press editor made a conclusion. The abstract was changed to: Justice is a “hot topic” for religious publishers, according to Publishers Weekly, with a wide range of related titles coming soon. Engagement in issues of social justice, racial reconciliation, peacemaking, and community development “are just as important to our religious expression as talking about our beliefs,” says Helen Lee, marketing director at InterVarsity Press. Lee is quoted as saying “those in the majority culture have not fully engaged with issues of privilege, power, and identity” and that white Americans often don’t grasp the advantages conferred by their race, blaming the election for uncovering racial tensions.
