One in three Americans read Scripture at least once a week, but only three-quarters of Christians say they believe the Bible is the word of God, according to the Pew Research Center. While about four in 10 people say the Bible should be taken literally, 36 percent think it shouldn’t be interpreted literally or expressed another/no opinion. A separate 18 percent of Christians view the Bible as a book written by men, not God.
